Every year around the first week of December, our phone rings with the same question: “Can you still get lights on my house before Christmas?” Sometimes the answer is yes. More often, the best dates are long gone.
If you’re wondering when to book Christmas light installation in Denver, the short answer is earlier than you think, and ideally by November 1st. This guide walks through how the season actually works, what booking early gets you, and the latest you can wait and still have your home lit for the holidays.
The Short Answer: Book by November 1st
Our installs run from mid-October through mid-December. The calendar fills up fast in October and November, and returning customers get first pick of dates. Most of them are already on the schedule by early October.
That means new customers are choosing from whatever is left. Book by November 1st and you’ll almost always get the install week you want. Wait until after Thanksgiving and you’re taking whatever happens to be open.
Denver’s Christmas Light Booking Timeline
Here is how a typical season plays out along the Front Range:
- September to early October: Returning customers renew. This is also the best time for new customers to get a quote, because the calendar is still wide open.
- Mid-October: Installations begin.
- By October 31st: Sign your agreement to qualify for our early booking discount.
- By November 1st: Our recommended deadline for getting the install date you want.
- Before Thanksgiving: The latest we recommend booking, so your lights can be up before December 10th.
- Early December: Limited openings that depend on weather and cancellations.
- January: We take everything down and store it for you.
Why Booking Early Pays Off in Denver
You beat the weather
Denver’s first snow usually shows up in mid to late October, and one cold snap can leave a roof icy for days. Every snow day pushes the whole install schedule back. Early installs happen on dry roofs in mild weather, which is safer for our crew and protects your date.
You get the date you want
Hosting Thanksgiving? Want the lights glowing the day after? Customers who book early choose their week. Customers who book late choose from the leftovers. If you want lights up for a specific party, family visit, or neighborhood event, that date is much easier to hit when you ask for it in October.
You save money
Sign your agreement by October 31st and you get a discount. Most Denver homes run $1,600 to $2,600 for the full season, with a $699 job minimum, so the savings are worth having. For a full breakdown, see our guide to how much Christmas light installation costs in Denver.
There’s time to get the design right
Roofline quotes are quick. We measure with satellite imagery and can often send a quote the same day. Trees and larger landscaping usually need an in-person visit so we can measure accurately. Booking early leaves room to walk the property, adjust the design, and add a wreath or garland without rushing.
“Isn’t October Too Early for Christmas Lights?”
This is the most common hesitation we hear, and it has a simple answer: installed doesn’t mean turned on.
Every installation includes a timer that we program for you, and your lights can stay dark until you’re ready. Plenty of our customers have lights installed in October and don’t flip the switch until after Thanksgiving. Nobody on your street will know they’re up until the night they come on.
What Happens After You Book
- Free estimate. Tell us about your home and the look you want. Estimates are free with no obligation.
- Agreement and deposit. A 50% deposit holds your spot on the install calendar. The balance is due once the installation is complete and every light is working.
- Install day. Most homes are finished in a single visit. You don’t need to be home. We just need access to outdoor outlets and any gate codes.
- All season. Maintenance is included. If a light goes out, call or text and we’ll come fix it.
- January. We take the lights down and store them until next year.
