Holiday Lighting FAQ

Pricing & Quotes

How much does Christmas light installation cost in Denver? It is important to understand that our company operates with a job minimum of $699. Most Denver homes run between $1600 to $2500+ for a full season, including lights, installation, maintenance, takedown, and storage. Your price depends on how many linear feet of roofline you have and whether you add trees, bushes, wreaths, or garland.

Is the light estimate free? Yes. Every estimate is free with no obligation.

How do you give a quote? Do you need to come to my house? For most homes, we measure your roofline using satellite imagery and send your quote without a visit. Trees and larger landscaping usually need a quick in-person visit so we can measure them accurately.

How fast will I get my quote? If we do not need to do a site visit, you can get a quote in the same day. If we need to complete a consultation, we promise a quote back in 24 hours.

Is your quote all-inclusive, or will there be extra charges? Our quote includes the lights, clips, timers, installation, in-season maintenance, January takedown, and storage. The price we quote is the price you pay unless more work is added.

Do I buy the lights or rent them? Our service is an all inclusive service and the lights are owned by our company. This ensures you always have working top of the line products.

Do you offer discounts for booking early or returning customers? If we get a signed agreement by October 31st, we do offer a discount for this. The total discount will depend on the size of your job. Typically it’s 10%.

How do I pay? Do you require a deposit? We can take cash, card, Venmo, Zelle or electronic transfer for payment. We require a 50% deposit to get on our installation calendar and then the final payment once the installation has been completed and all lights are in working order.

Scheduling & Booking

When should I book my Christmas light installation? As early as possible. Our install calendar fills up fast in October and November, and returning customers get first pick of dates. We recommend booking by November 1st to get the date you want.

When do you start installing lights? Installs run from mid-October through mid-December. Many customers like an early install so the work is done before snow and cold set in. Your lights don’t have to be turned on until you’re ready.

What’s the latest I can book? We highly recommend booking before Thanksgiving to ensure Christmas lights can be installed before December 10th.

How long does installation take? Most homes are installed in a single visit, usually within a day. Large homes, big trees, and commercial properties can take longer.

Do I need to be home during installation? We do not need you to be home during the installation. We will need access to power outlets and any gate codes to access the property.

How will I know when the crew is coming? We schedule our customers in advance and there will be multiple communications from our office before, during and after installation.

I used you last year. Do I need to rebook? We ask you contact our office (303) 500-5584 and schedule your installation. Most of our customers renew each Fall and get on the schedule by October 5th. Each year we install the same design you had last season unless you ask for changes.

Lights, Design & Products

What kind of lights do you use? We use commercial-grade LED Christmas lights, cut and custom-fit to your roofline so there’s no sagging or extra cord hanging off your gutters. LEDs use far less electricity than old-style bulbs and last longer. We offer various sized bulbs for the right application on each area. From 5 mm minis to C7 and C9 bulbs at various spacings like 12″, 18″, 24″ and 36″ depending on the size of what we are lighting up.

What colors can I choose? Our most popular color is warm white but we offer any color combination or solid color you may want.

Can you use my own lights? We do not hang customer’s own lights. Too many problems with working product, tangles, color matching etc. We always hang our own high end lights.

What can you decorate besides the roofline? We decorate rooflines, trees, bushes, windows, and walkways, plus wreaths, garland, and lawn decorations.

Can you help me design my display? Yes. We’ll recommend a design that fits your home and your budget, or install exactly what you have in mind.

Do you offer permanent lighting? Not right now. We specialize in classic seasonal lighting, which gives you a brighter traditional look, nothing on your house the rest of the year, and no large upfront cost. We take everything down in January and store it for you.

During the Season

What if a light goes out? Call or text us and we’ll fix it. In-season maintenance is included in your price, so there’s no extra charge. We can typically get out and make the fix within 48 hours of you contacting us.

Do the lights come with a timer? Yes, all of our Christmas light installations have timers and we will program for you.

Will the lights hold up in Denver snow and wind? Yes. Our commercial-grade lights and clips are built for Colorado winters. If a storm knocks something loose, call us and we’ll come fix it.

Will Christmas lights raise my electric bill? Very little. LED lights use a fraction of the power of old incandescent bulbs, especially when set on a timer.

Is there a guarantee? If anything stops working during the season, we fix it free. If you’re not happy with how your display looks, we’ll make it right. Your happiness during the holidays is our number one priority!

Takedown & Storage

When do you take the lights down? Takedown starts right after the New Year and runs through early February.

Is takedown included in the price? Yes. Removal is included in every package.

Do you store the lights? Yes. After takedown, we store the lights at our shop so they’re ready for next season. No bins in your garage, no tangled cords.

Safety & Insurance

Are you licensed and insured? Yes. Holiday Exteriors carries general liability and workers’ comp insurance. We’re happy to send a certificate of insurance on request, which most HOAs and property managers require.

Are your installers employees or subcontractors? All of our installers are employees of Holiday Exteriors.

How do you protect my roof, gutters, and trees? We use clips made for holiday lighting and walk the property before we start. Our crews use proper ladders and safety gear, and we never wrap trees so tightly that they’re damaged.

Why hire a pro instead of hanging lights myself? Every year, thousands of people end up in the emergency room from holiday decorating falls. A pro crew does it safely, faster, and with lights cut to fit your home, so you get a better look without the ladder.

HOAs, Commercial & Property Managers

Do you install holiday lights for HOAs? Yes. We decorate HOA entrances, clubhouses, common areas, and individual homes across the Denver metro. We work within your community’s rules on design, timers, and approved install and takedown windows.

Do you work with property managers and commercial buildings? Yes. We handle office buildings, retail centers, apartment communities, and other commercial properties. One point of contact handles your quote, scheduling, and any service calls during the season.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance or a W-9? Yes we can provide COI and W9 same day as requested.

Do you offer multi-year contracts for HOAs and commercial properties? Yes most of our neighborhood customers sign up for multiple years at a time. Ask about pricing for a multiple year contract.

Can you decorate several properties we manage? Yes, of course we can handle multiple projects for you. We install lights all over the Denver metro and can handle properties all over Colorado.
